First 5 Ingredients
Boneless chicken – the meat and skin without the bone. Contains water because it is not cooked. During cooking process, a lot of the nutrients get destroyed. Contains less protein after cooking. A quality ingredient in any cat food formula.
Chicken meal – a more concentrated source of protein. Before cooking, the moisture content has already been removed. Retains protein during cooking process. Final result is a nutritious, protein filled ingredient.
Turkey meal – same as chicken meal. Even with more protein, meals have a negative reputation due to the quality of ingredients used to make them (poor quality).
Boneless turkey – same as boneless chicken.
Chicken fat – source of omega 6 fatty acid. Fat is essential in a cats diet and even makes the food more palatable.
|High glycemic (slower digesting) carbs||Protein doesn’t dominate formula|
|70% chicken, turkey, eggs, fish||Lots of vegetables|
|Preservative free ingredients used||May be too rich|
|Ingredients ‘fit for human consumption’||Brand not that easy to find in stores – Canadian brand (same makers as Orijen)|
This cat food is similar to a lot of other quality foods you can purchase. It can be interchanged with other brands such as Evo. It is here because this is the first post featuring this brand; it gives a little more variety. This particular formula isn’t as high in protein as others featured in the top 5 dry cat foods. The fat and carbohydrate levels are not too far behind. You can probably think of dry cat foods that deserve this spot more than this formula however that doesn’t change the fact that this is still a quality dry cat food.
